Kim Martin joined the faculty in English at UNO in 1999. Her graduate studies in American literature at University of Florida culminated in her Major American Writers course, which focuses on American identity and the American Dream via the work of authors such as Benjamin Franklin, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Ralph Ellison, Chuck Palahniuk, Joyce Carol Oates, and Toni Morrison. Her teaching assistantship in University of Florida's technical writing program for science and engineering majors shaped her professional interest in technical writing. Her classes in technical communication offer students the opportunity to meet the demands of the contemporary workplace by communicating effectively with other professionals, executives, and consumers in their major field.
Ms. Martin has also taught Rhetoric and Composition at St. Edwards University in Austin, Texas, and served as an instructor and consultant in professional communication through CUNY's partnership with the Family Independence Administration in New York City.
