Jaren Philleo is currently the principal oboist of the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra. Born and raised in Fairbanks, Alaska, Jaren attended the Interlochen Arts Academy for her junior and senior years of high school, where she studied with Daniel Stolper. In 2004 Jaren earned her Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music, where she studied with John Mack. She then earned a Masters in Music in 2007 from the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University where she studied with Robert Atherholt.
Prior to joining the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra, Jaren was the principal oboist of the Sarasota Opera for two seasons. She has been a featured soloist with the Fairbanks Symphony, Washington Chamber Symphony in the Kennedy Center, Spoleto Festival USA Orchestra and the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra.
Jaren has participated in several summer festivals including the Interlochen Arts Camp, Aspen Music Festival, Verbier Festival Youth Orchestra, Spoleto Festival USA, Music Academy of the West, Wintergreen Music Festival and the Marlboro Music Festival in Vermont, and the Grand Teton Music Festival in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. In addition to teaching students applied oboe at UNO, she also teaches oboe and coaches chamber music at Tulane University.
