Area of Specialty: Screenwriting
Henry Griffin, a native of New Orleans, and a graduate of Jesuit High School, Loyola and UNO, started working professionally as a screenwriter after selling his first screenplay to Fox in 1996. He has worked extensively as a script doctor for several movie studios. The first film he directed (the half-hour short Mutiny) debuted at the Sundance Film Festival in 1999 and played at film festivals around America and Europe. His second film, Tortured by Joy, was included on a DVD in The Believer magazine in 2005. As an actor, he debuted in The Way of the Gun in 2000, and was a recurring cast member on HBO's Treme for all of its four seasons. He has also directed documentaries and music videos, for The Preservation Brass Band and Galactic, among others. He also appears monthly on the WWNO radio show All Things New Orleans, discussing the local movie scene.
