Problems Connecting to the Wifi/ ResNet in your Residence Hall?
ResNet is a free high-speed network service available to the residential community of UNO’s main campus. ResNet uses dedicated Ethernet wiring and WiFi connectivity to provide each resident an individual connection to the University network and internet. You can use many devices to connect to the resnet secure network, by simply using our instructions to configure your device’s network settings and entering your UNO student credentials, for gaining ResNet access.
Online Gaming & Streaming Devices (MAC Authentication)
For residents that would like to use their video gaming devices for online gaming and/or streaming devices (i.e. Roku, Amazon FireStick, etc..) for viewing online content, you can request to have your devices configured to use the ResNet network. To do so, you must have the MAC address of your device(s) authenticated. This can be done by contacting the UNO IT Help Desk to make the request. Make sure to provide the IT Help Desk Consultant with the following information:
The Name of your gaming/streaming device (i.e. Xbox, PS4, Amazon FireStick, etc...)
Is the request for using a wifi or wired (i.e. Ethernet) connection?
The MAC address of your gaming and/or streaming device. This information can be easily found by googling “MAC Address for my “(‘insert your device name here’)”
Your Room Location (ie. PHN 128A)
Contact Number (i.e. cell phone number)
A ticket will be created for your request and you will be contacted, via your UNO email, when the request is initiated and completed. To inquire about the status of your request, contact the IT Help Desk and reference your ticket number. Please note that completion time will vary based on the volume of requests submitted to the Help Desk. Once the request is completed, you will also be provided instructions on how to setup your gaming/streaming device for accessing the ResNet network. If you find yourself having issues with the setup process, after the MAC address has been authenticated, please contact the IT Help Desk for assistance. If over-the-phone assistance by a Help Desk consultant is unsuccessful, please ask to schedule an in-person appointment to troubleshoot the issue on-site. Make sure to correspond your time of availability with the availability of a ResNet technician’s availability. Please note that you must be present at the time, and remain present, at the time of the on-site visit of the ResNet technician.
