University of New Orleans, a NCAA Division I institution and member of the Southland Conference, invites applications for a Coordinator for Student- Athlete Enrichment within the Athletics Department. Coordinates academic support services and life skills programs for assigned teams. Assists student-athletes with course selection and scheduling; assists in the management of study hall and tutorial program. Coordinates and facilitates the Privateer Community Outreach program.
Works with the Associate Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Enrichment to ensure that the Department and University are in compliance with University, Southland and NCAA rules and regulations. Provides academic counseling for student-athletes and assigned teams as designated by the Associate Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Enrichment. Monitors academic performance, coordinate structured study hall, and prepares reports for designated sports. Maintains open and consistent contact with coaches and administrators, faculty and University support staff. Meets regularly with at-risk student-athletes to develop effective academic and time management plans and to assess academic progress and eligibility status. Develops strong working relationships with student-athletes to emphasize the value of education and the development of self-reliance and self-confidence. Communicates regularly with tutors and faculty regarding student-athletes' academic performance; provides tutor reports to coaches and administration. Assists with award programming honoring the academic and athletic achievements of student-athletes. Coordinates and facilitates community service program for student-athletes; plans, organizes and reports student-athletes' outreach participation in various community service projects. Serves as a resource for coaches, prospective student-athletes, and parents during the recruitment process. Exhibits the highest professional standards and ethical behavior with regard to adherence to NCAA, Southland, University and Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's Degree. 1-2 years of related experience in college athletics program, may include athletic internships or graduate assistantships. Proven ability to develop, establish and sustain relationships with various constituents. Experience working with academically at-risk students. Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills. Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population.
Master's Degree. 1-2 years of related experience in a Division I Athletic Department, preferably in a student-athlete services unit. Experience advising football or basketball student-athletes. Demonstrated success in coordinating community service projects. Working knowledge of NCAA eligibility certification rules and regulations.
