Fine Arts at University of New Orleans
The Department of Fine Arts is a fully accredited program by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design. We currently offer Bachelor's of Arts degrees in Studio Art and Art History. We also offer an M.F.A. degree in Fine Arts, which has consistently been rated as one of the top programs in the gulf south for the past three decades. Our department has played an integral role in the development of the New Orleans art scene, as many of our former graduates living as working artists in New Orleans have been driving forces behind the development of collective run art spaces in the city. The UNO-St. Claude gallery has served as an exhibition venue for the New Orleans Triennial for the past 6 years and we again featured an artist as a part of Prospect 4 in late 2017 and early 2018. As part of the UNO School of the Arts we provide collaborative curriculum to students wishing to explore painting, sculpture, photography, printmaking, digital art and animation. We have a range of specialized faculty that lead instruction in these areas but also work together to create unique learning experiences for students. We are focused on communities within classrooms and believe that team building and project driven experiences can open up the possibilities to our students. We have fully supported fabrication facilities for sculpture and printmaking as well as digital art studios that are open to students with very accessible hours.
