G. John and Margaret Veta Professorship in Strategy
John A. Williams, Ph.D., was appointed Dean of the College of Business Administration in April, 2013. He had served as Interim Dean of the College since August, 2010. He received his Ph.D. from Penn State University. He holds the G. John and Margaret Veta Professorship in Strategy. Prior to joining the University of New Orleans as Director of the Lester E. Kabacoff School of Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Administration, Dr. Williams served as Director of the Department of Hotel, Restaurant, Institution Management & Dietetics at Kansas State University and as the Coordinator of the Undergraduate Program at Virginia Tech.
He has published extensively in the human resource area with a primary research concentration on the success, plateau, and derailment of managers. Dr. Williams serves on several editorial boards and as a reviewer for numerous refereed journals. Much of his research over the past 7 years has focused on the resiliency of the Greater New Orleans Area following Hurricane Katrina.
He has coordinated and sponsored annual research seminars featuring national experts to provide vital information for the economic growth of New Orleans. Currently, he serves as an expert analyst for the Master Planning team in New Orleans to achieve tourism economic impact goals by the year 2018. In 2011, he led the College of Business Administration in successfully achieving the continuance of full accreditation by AACSB International. Since Katrina, he has raised over $550,000 in scholarship funding, $2.5 million in sponsored grants, and over $2.6 million in external funding. He is extremely active in the community and serves on several boards throughout the New Orleans area.
